Every year in my hometown of Allen Park, everyone does a cute job of decorating their homes, which are all homes made in Italian style. Yes, there are even some mafia stories from back in the day when the city was pretty much all Italians, but that is largely history that has come and gone–though the racism here isn’t! It’s pure white bread America here in ole’ Allentown. Ironically, Lincoln Park, right next door, is more or less a bit poorer than their Allen Park counter parts so it’s like the Upside Down for Allen Parkers over there. Even so, every small town has its charms along with its unspoken dark side. One of Allen Park’s charms is a general friendliness and its decorating for any holiday. I’ve often gone around snapping pictures over the years. I wanted to share some again. There is often a lot but now there is even more with a town competition afoot.
